Barbara Morgan Obituary

Barbara Jean Morgan, 75, of Crossett, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.  She was born on November 22, 1941, in Pioneer, LA to her parents, Joseph Franklin, and Ida Harper Lewis as one of twelve children.  She graduated from Pioneer High School in 1959 and received a degree in Marketing from the South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado.  She retired in 1999 from Arkla Gas Company in Crossett after twenty years of service and enjoyed fishing, working in her flower gardens, doing household projects, and decorating her home for the seasons.  For many years, Barbara was an active member of Magnolia Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and helped whenever she was needed.  She eventually joined First Baptist Church of Crossett, where she sang with the Golden Voices and was a member of Sue Ann Bennett’s Sunday School Class.  Both church families held a special place in her heart as did all her customers at Arkla Gas.  She had a kind and loving heart and was there for anyone who needed her and she loved her family dearly.  Barbara’s close personal relationship with the Lord was evident in her contagious smile and joyous personality and people were automatically drawn to her as she would let her light shine where ever she went.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Willie Caviness, Lois Peek, Edith Fowler, and Glennie Long; and four brothers, Quitman Lewis, O.Z. Lewis, Arnold Lewis, and Bobby Lewis.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Morgan of Crossett; one daughter, Traci Allen and husband Chuck of Hamburg; three sons, Kerry Phillips of Schererville, IN, Jeremy Morgan and wife Carrie of McKinney, TX, and Matt Morgan and wife Katy of Hamburg; one sister, Mary Hillman of Epps, LA; two brothers, Ernest Lewis and wife Helen and Devon Lewis both of West Monroe, LA; along with seven grandchildren, Jacob Emory Allen and wife Emily, Kennedy Taylor Allen, and Levi, Sadie, Maddox, and Blake Morgan and Kason Brooks.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 2nd at First Baptist Church of Crossett, 701 Main St., with Pastors, Jamie Staley, Steve Hillman, and Zale Lewis officiating, followed by an interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
