Charlie Richard Lockwood, Jr., 72, of Crossett, died Thursday, October 20, 2016, at his residence. He was born on May 25, 1944, in Monroe, LA to his parents, Charles and Doris Grafton Lockwood. He was a member of Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and worked for Georgia Pacific for 37 years until he retired on Nov. 1, 2006, as a Beater Engineer in the Board Mill. Charlie enjoyed making people laugh and was a natural musician who could just listen to a song and then play it back on the guitar. He was a huge fan of old gospel and country music and would often sit and play for his family. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing golf, and watching any sport in which his grandchildren participated, and especially loved spending time with his wife, Sandra.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lockwood and Doris Evelyn Grafton Lockwood; one brother, Aubrey Lockwood; and two sisters, Charlotte Marie Walker and Margaret Rose Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra Sue Hassler Lockwood; one son, Darryl Lockwood and wife Joanna; one daughter, Carla Riles; and four grandsons, Jacob and Jared Lockwood, Caleb Taylor, and Jeremy Kendrick all of Crossett.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23rd at Rolfe Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Carlton White officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Saturday at Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 786 Hwy 82, in Crossett.
