Mr. Clarence L. Burnett, 73, of Crossett passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on October 30, 1942 in Crossett, Arkansas to Willie and Reba Burnett. He served as a helicopter mechanic in the U. S. Army which included tours in Germany, Greenland and two tours in Vietnam. He earned numerous meritorious awards including a Bronze Star and eventually retired after 23 years as Sargeant First Class. Clarence loved fishing and hunting, but his greatest love of all was for his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Willie Clarence Burnett; one son, Robbie Bruce Burnett; and grandparents, William Jessie and Ida Drue Ogden.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Frances Swartz Burnett of Crossett; three daughters, Melissa Gail Andrews and husband Richard of Hinesville, GA; Kimberly Lynn Walker of McDonough, GA; and Wendy Jo Belcher of Charleston, WV; five granddaughters, Mandy Morris and husband Brandon of Crossett, Brandi Leigh Ainsworth of Kilbourne, LA, Tiffany Lynn Martinez of Crossett, Sierra Kubiak and husband Cody of Crossett, and Sheala Ruby Walker of Crossett; his mother, Reba Burnett of Crossett, two sisters, Peggy Robins and husband Ernie of Nashville, AR, and Linda Hollis of Crossett; one brother, Eugene Burnett and wife Sharon of Crossett; and a life-long friend James Naron of Pine Bluff; along with 6 other grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 11th at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W in North Crossett with Pastor Robin Allen officiating followed by an interment at Sims Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brandon Morris, Paul Ainsworth, Ernie Robins, D.C. Dodd, Cody Kubiak, Jason Johnston, Rob Adkins and Josh Robins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Ford, Steven Swartz, Tom Henson, Ronnie Bowen, and James Naron.
A Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service begins.
