Columbus M. Miles, Jr., 69, of Crossett passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on December 9, 1946, in Fountain Hill, AR to his parents, Columbus M.and Dixie Miles. He joined the United States Navy, served two tours in Vietnam and was eventually honorably discharged as a Chief Warrant Officer. Columbus was a member of Zion Methodist Church, a truck driver, and an avid crappie fisherman. He fished daily whenever possible and was easily recognized by his pontoon boat.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one half-brother, Ray Miles; and one niece, Sherri Tucker.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Doris Ann Miles of Crossett; one son, Jared Miles of Ruston, LA; one daughter, Emily D. Miles of Kiln, LA; two step-sons, Bruce Bailey and wife DeAnn of Crossett and Clay Ricks and wife Kenzie of Paul’s Valley, OK; one step-daughter, Roxanne Ricks of Crossett; three sisters, Janie Quimby, Nancy Taunton, and Carolyn Lemley and husband Pete, all of Crossett; one brother, David Miles of Stuttgart; and one grandson, Michael Miles of Ruston, LA; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24th, at the Crossett Harbor Port Pavillion with Bro. Danny Merriweather officiating under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
In the case of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in North Crossett.
