Mr. Donald Ray Yates, age 81, of Crossett passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at his home.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1933 to L.N. Yates Sr. and Essie Pearl Henderson in Center Point, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in post War Germany. He was a retired truck driver for Georgia-Pacific Chemical for 38 years, and was awarded "The Three Million Mile" award. Mr. Yates was a member of The Church of Christ of Crossett, and known by family and friends as an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jane Yates; his parents; and three brothers, L.N. Yates Jr, Bobby Yates and Billy Yates.
He is survived by four children, Connie Anita Herrington of Crossett, Ronnie Oneal Bowen and wife Vickie of Crossett, Carolyn Sue Hendrix and husband Robert of West Monroe, LA, and Pamela Ruth Abney and husband Tim of Crossett; one sister, Mrs. Billie Corbell of Henderson, KY; Ten Grandchildren, Bryan Fields, Donna McDonald, Brooke Herrington, Chad Hendrix, Jessica Morrison, Ryan Abney, Blake Abney, Jennifer Abney, Jarrod Bowen, and Stacie Midwell; and 16 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 2:00pm at Medders Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Andy Connard officiating. Burial will be in the Unity Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chad Hendrix, Ryan Abney, Blake Abney, Jarrod Bowen, Patrick Morrison, Ken McDonald, Bryan Fields and Andrew McDonald.
Vistation will be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Medders Funeral Home Chapel prior to the service,
