James Troy Wisecarver, 84, of Hamburg, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, at the Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. He was born on January 1, 1932, in Crossett where he lived and worked most of his life.
Troy was a member and proud captain of the Crossett Eagles football team from 1951-1952 then went on to serve 2 years in the United States Army which included tours in Germany and Holland. Following his military career, he attended Arkansas A&M where he also played football. Then he went on to work for Georgia Pacific as a bleach plant operator and was a known mentor to many who worked with him until he retired after 51 years. During this time, he also proudly served as a deacon and member of the Church of Christ on Pine Street for many years.
Troy spent most of his free time fishing and hunting with friends and family. His passion for life and love of nature was a gift he gave freely to his family and all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Ralph Philip and Bertha Irene Gilbert Wisecarver; two brothers, Warren Wisecarver and Roy Wisecarver; and two sisters, Juanita Bolten and Jean Little.
He is survived by two sons, Dee Wisecarver of Hamburg, and Jay Wisecarver of Sterlington, LA; one granddaughter, Jennifer Brainard and husband Chris of Birmingham, AL; three grandsons, Brandon Wisecarver and wife Karen of Crossett, Caleb Wisecarver of Baton Rouge, LA, and Grayson Wisecarver of Sterlington, LA; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Troy’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 15th at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in North Crossett, with Bro. Larry Culbreath officiating, followed by an interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers will be Brandon Wisecarver, Caleb Wisecarver, Randy Rice, Bill Swafford, Chris Brainard, and Philip Wisecarver. Honorary pallbearers will be Grayson Wisecarver and James Coleman.
A visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14th at Medders Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association and Hospice Home Care.
