Jimmy "Clyde" Blankinship Obituary

 

Jimmy “Clyde” Blankinship,77, of Hermitage, died August 21, 2016, at his home.  He was born August 22, 1938, in Crossett to his parents Houston H. and Joy Linder Blankinship. He was a retired Logger and construction worker who loved being outdoors.  He enjoyed hog and deer hunting, fishing, and riding his Rhino through the woods.  He loved his family and could often be found taking his great-grandchildren riding to town to buy burgers on his Rhino, always remembering to buy one for “Sprout”, his favorite little dog.  He was also a storyteller of tales, often tall ones, who had a love for horses and a good herd of cows. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two wives, Julia Faye McNeely Blankinship, and Susan Carpenter Blankinship.

He is survived by two sons, Tommy Blankinship and wife Laura of Hermitage, and Melvin Blankinship and wife Ann of Westville, OK; one daughter, Leigh Anne Hill and husband Ronald of Hot Springs; one brother, James Ed Blankinship of Crossett; one sister, Martha Gill and husband Dennis also of Crossett; one grandson, Houston Blankinship and wife Charish of Hermitage; four granddaughters, Haley Clancy, and Hannah, Julia, and Cheyenne Blankinship all of Hermitage; two great-grandchildren, Kristin and Lamont Blankinship also of Hermitage; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 24th, at South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church, 2201 South Main St., Crossett, with Pastor Don Justice officiating followed by an interment at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are David Davidson, John Samuel Rauls, Charley Rauls, Adam Nolan, Michael Herring, and Jonathan Wilkerson.  Honorary pallbearers are Michael Miller, Bill McLeod, Billy Miller, Rob Blankinship, John Clancy, Van Felter, Lamont Blankinship, and Gunner Wilkerson.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 23rd also at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Antioch Cemetery fund.
