John Kleinhofs, Jr., 55, of Hot Springs, died Monday, March 23, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born on January 7, 1960 to John and Harriet Hayman Kleinhofs at Camp Hanford, Washington. Mr. Kleinhofs grew up in Crossett, but spent the last few years in Costa Rica where he met and married the love of his life before recently moving to Hot Springs. He was a member of the Crossett High School Class of 1978, and retired from the Georgia-Pacific Plywood Division Plant in Gloster, Mississippi. He was a Presbyterian, and was known by many for his love of the outdoors. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Kleinhofs, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Maria del Carmen Afar of Hot Springs, formerly of Villalobos Heredia, Costa Rica; a daughter, Hanna Jeansonne and husband Kris of Denham, Springs LA; his mother, Harriet Hayman Kleinhofs of North Little Rock; one brother, Chris Kleinhofs of Little Rock; two sisters, Dana Rowlett and husband Rick of North Little Rock and Anna Kleinhofs of Wrangell, Alaska; one granddaughter, Khloe Madilyn Jeansonne; along with a host of loving relatives and friends.
Mr. Kleinhofs wishes were that his remains be cremated. His wife, and daughter will be taking a portion of his ashes back to Costa Rica, and the other portion will buried at a private family ceremony next to his father at the Antioch Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church, 309 Pine Street, Crossett, AR 71635.
