Kenneth Lamar Johnson, 68, of Greenbrier, reached his eternal home on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on December 7, 1947, in Crossett, Arkansas to his parents, the late Robert and Irene Johnson. He served most of his life as a Baptist minister, and retired in 2014 after serving for 38 years as a pastor in MI, LA, IN and AR. He also enjoyed participating in short-term domestic and international missions during this time. He will be greatly missed by his family, but often shared his desire to be home with his Jesus.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deannie Johnson; a son, Robin Johnson and wife, Pamela, all of Greenbrier; a daughter Kimberly Webb and husband, Michael, of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Peggy Hodge and husband, Tommy, of Monroe, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Hannah Webb, Ashton Johnson, Jonathan Webb, Amber Johnson and Aaron Webb; plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Jody Gannaway and Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett. Pallbearers are Ashton Johnson, Jonathan Webb, Aaron Webb, Michael Webb, Robin Johnson and Brian Martin. Honorary Pallbearers are Marvin Colvin, Harvey Gilliam, Sonny Streeter, Greg Gwin and Blain Graham. Memorials may be made to the Pilots for Patients, 3127 Mercedes Drive, Monroe, LA 71201.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Magnolia Baptist Church.
