Noris Fay Burchell, 90, of Crossett died peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2017, at the Crossett Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on July 24, 1926, to his parents, Mack and Maude Goodwin Burchell. He joined the United States Army at 18 years of age and earned numerous awards and medals during World War II. His service allowed him to travel to many countries including the Philippines and Japan, where he assisted with rebuilding after the war. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp on Grand Lake. He was a family man who loved his weekly family gatherings and was a charter member of Community Chapel Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters including his twin, Doris Hughes, Lonia Mae Murphy, and Ella Mae Murphy; and one brother Estelle Burchell.
He is survived by two sons, Bill Burchell and wife Tisna, and Maxie Burchell and wife Joy all of Crossett; two grandsons, Rodney Burchell and wife Maricel, and Mark Burchell and wife Tu all of Milo; two granddaughters, Chrystle Davis and husband Hugh of Pottsville, AR, and Jennifer Metz and husband Grant of Dover, AR; along with 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2nd, at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 1st, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W in Crossett.
