Rosie “Jo” Lee Hamm, 75, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at the Ashley County Medical Center of Crossett. She was born on January 28, 1941, to Claude and Gertrude Richardson and co-owned Hamm's Hydraulics with her husband, Jack. Jo was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, reading, and yard sale jumping with her best friend, “Tuffy”. Her compassionate heart was evident in everything she did, which included cooking for shut-ins. She always went out of her way to help anyone in need. She loved sitting outside admiring the birds, squirrels, and butterflies, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and her church family at Community Chapel Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude Stephenson and Gertrude Futch Richardson; three brothers, Claude Richardson, Jr., John White, and Fred White; and one sister, Ida May White.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lynwood “Jack” Hamm of Crossett; two sons, Belvin Hamm and wife Joan; and Richard Marion Hamm all of Crossett; one daughter, Deborah Sturdivant and special friend, Donnie Morphis also of Crossett; two sisters, Viola Neilson of Winnsboro, LA, and Polly Guillot of Minden, LA; six grandchildren, Jacky Sturdivant, Kyle Sturdivant, Chancee Griffith, Anna Sudduth, Jana Smith, and Jarrod Hamm; seven great-grandchildren; her best friend, Kathryn “Tuffy” Higginbotham; and a host of extended grandchildren that adopted her as their “Mamaw”.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3rd at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in North Crossett with Bro. Mike Chain officiating, followed by an interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Paul Hamm, Landel Hamm, Joe Hamm, Greg Hamm, Leon Hamm, David Hamm, John Garner, and Elton Taunton. Honorary Pallbearers are Steve Listar and Alford Watts.
A Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3:00 p.m. at Medders Funeral Home.
