Sara McCormick Obituary

Sara McCormick, 83, of Crossett, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016.  She was born in Centerville, Arkansas June 8, 1932 to Roy and Verna McKenzie Eidson.  Sara was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett and a graduate of the Arkansas State Teacher’s College, presently known as, UCA, where she attained her Bachelor of Science degree in Education.  She met and married the love of her life in 1954 and the two moved to Crossett in 1963, where she continued her 36 year teaching career teaching First grade and later Sixth. In her free time, she loved to shop, play the piano, work in her flower garden, paint, sew and do various other arts and crafts.  Sara was witty and didn’t speak a whole lot, but when she did, what she said was always worth listening too.  She adored her granddaughters and great granddaughters and her dogs, Tiger, Lily & Brodie.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Robert “Jim Bob” McCormick of Crossett; one daughter, Carmen M. Hottinger of Jonesboro; two granddaughters, Heather Elizabeth Hottinger of Dallas, TX and Savannah Elyse Hottinger of Jonesboro; two great grandchildren, Anabeth Marie and Piper Lei; and one sister, Irene Henry and husband E.R. of Dumas.
