Bobby Curry Obituary

Bobby Joe Curry, 83, of Crossett, formerly of Warren, AR, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.  He was born in Kelso, AR to his parents, Ben George and Amy Elizabeth Brown Curry.  He served honorably in the United States Army National Guard and was a devoted member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church.

For thirty years, Bobby worked for Georgia Pacific Extrusion, where he was a crane operator.  In addition to his professional career, Bobby shared his talents and passion for music with his family and friends by playing guitar, singing, and writing songs, eventually leading him to Nashville, TN where he recorded a record.

His creative spirit also found expression in woodworking, where he crafted beautiful pieces and mastered the art of home renovations.

A man of many talents, Bobby's adventurous spirit led him to pursue numerous outdoor activities such as flying his paraplane, hunting, trapping, camping, and especially fishing, which he did everyday whenever possible.

Bobby was well known for his sense of humor and love for laughter. He had a knack for lifting spirits with his jokes and playful demeanor, His warm personality and genuine kindness made him a cherished friend to many.

Above all else, Bobby's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He found solace and strength in his relationship with God. A relationship he shared with his family and friends providing comfort and reassurance to those around him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Wanda Doggett Curry, and one brother, David Curry.

He leaves behind three daughters, Stephanie Jackson (Robert) of Minden, LA, Dennice Gill (Andy) of Crossett, and Barbara Gammel (Scott) of Pineville, LA; along with three sisters, Norma Jean Savage of Homer, LA, Georgia May Jarvis (Billy) of Banks, AR, and Mary Vines (Tim) of Hermitage, AR; seven grandchildren, Josh Jackson, Elizabeth Boone, Brittney Stevenson, Mandi James, Caleb Gammel, Courtnie Beach, and Scott Gill; fifteen great-grandchildren, and a special caregiver, Katherine Webb.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 26th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Donnie Dubose and Bro. Josh Jackson, officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery in Warren, AR under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Caleb Gammel, Austin James, Heath Stevenson, Jayden Jackson, Ethan Cox, and Brett Boone. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 25th, at Medders Funeral Home in Crossett.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
