James “Clovis” Dean, age 67, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born on September 6, 1956, was a lifelong resident of Crossett, and a member of the Community of Christ Church.
A proud graduate of Crossett High School in 1974, Clovis went on to achieve an associate degree in Electrical and Instrumentation from Forest Echoes. His professional journey spanned over four decades, which he dedicated to Georgia Pacific, until his well-deserved retirement.
Clovis enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan, his enthusiasm for the team was unmatched, supporting them in all sports.
To his family, Clovis was a rock. Always full of love, support, and strength. His loyalty was evident in every aspect of his life. Clovis was a devoted family man, whose greatest joy was found in caring for his beloved granddaughter, Maeve, whose laughter brought light and warmth to his heart.
In addition, Clovis was a faithful friend, always there to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Marshall and Kathryn Jones Dean; two brother-in-laws, Jerry Pennington and Curtis Gulledge; one nephew, Matt Gulledge; and one great-niece, Reagan Richardson.
He leaves behind his son, Brad Dean (Aimee) of Crossett; and four sisters, Donna Pennington of Quincy, IL, Debra Lochala of Hector, AR, Lisa Gulledge (Gene Watt) of Crossett, and Rhonda Barnes (Andy) of Hamburg; along with his beloved granddaughter, Maeve Dean; and a host of nieces and nephews who thought he hung the moon.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 23rd, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Elders, Elllis Lewis and Greg McManus officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Medders Funeral Home.
