Amy Rice Obituary

Amy Elizabeth Rodgers Rice, 45, of Crossett, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, at her home.  She was born on September 24, 1972, to her parents, Gerry, and Martha Toler Rodgers.  She was born and raised in Crossett, and both a member of First Baptist Church and the Crossett High School Class of 1990.

In 1997, Amy received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology (BSRT) from Northeast Louisiana University (currently ULM) and attended the Institute of Ultrasound in Mobile, AL where she received the outstanding student award.  She soon began a fulfilling 20-year career at the Ashley County Medical Center while also working as a clinical instructor in the X-Ray Program at the South Arkansas Community College.  Amy served as the Lead Mammography Technologist for the Radiology department and was a great mentor for the new technologists.  She was very versatile and accomplished in many different modalities.  She was adored by her patients and beloved by her coworkers, not only as a professional but also as a dear friend.

Amy enjoyed reading, working on craft projects, shopping with her friend, Leslie, and traveling to her son’s ballgames.  She was a quiet, humble person who disliked attention and loved her children dearly.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Austin and Macel Rodgers, and James and Faye Toler.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Rice; two sons, Mason Manning and wife, Lauren, and Jack Rice; one daughter, Juliana Rice; her parents, Gerry, and Martha Toler Rodgers; one sister, Hope Blankenship and husband, Tony; one brother, Josh Rodgers; in-laws, David and Brenda Rice; sister-in-law, Michelle Griffin and husband, Lance; one granddaughter, Willow Manning; along with nieces and nephews, Rainie Rodgers, Austin Williams, and Belle Griffin, all of Crossett.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 25th at the First Baptist Church of Crossett, 701 Main St., with Pastors Jamie Staley and David Newberry officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Tony Blankenship, Lance Griffin, Ronnie Dillion, Brian Martin, Patrick Outlaw, and Heath Childers.  Honorary pallbearers are the ACMC Radiology Department and the CHS Class of 1990.
