Buford Eugene McCarty, 61, of Crossett, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018, at his home. He was born on April 14, 1957, to his parents, Buford, and Effie Garrett McCarty. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War and was a member of the Church of the Redeemer in Hamburg.
He worked as a certified machinist, a trade which he learned from his father, and was employed by Mechanisms followed by many years at Williams Welding.
Buford played guitar, and loved to cook, especially after watching his favorite cooking shows. He was a Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast and often enjoyed taking his family camping along bike runs.
Buford was a former member of the Mad Max Deer Camp where he scouted and hunted deer with his boys, always anxiously waiting to witness their excitement when they got one.
He is preceded in death by his father, Buford Lee McCarty; and one brother, Jack Curtis McCarty. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Sandidge McCarty of Crossett; four sons, Jonathan Liles and wife, Alicia, of Crossett, Kevin Padgett of Claremore, OK, Jesse Eugene McCarty and wife, Michelle, of Calhoun, LA, and Joseph Martin McCarty of Crossett; one daughter, Molly Young of Claremore, OK; his mother, Effie Brewer and step-father, Jake, of Houston, TX; three sisters, Gidget McCarty Gestring and husband, Jimmy, of Crossett, Teresa Monreal and husband, Tony, of Cut n Shoot, TX, and Cindy Rochelle Barnhill and husband, Mike, of Houston, TX; one brother, Danny Ray Yocum, II and wife, Mary Ann, of Liberty, TX; and twelve grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 2nd at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1st at Medders Funeral Home.
