Dennis Arthur Murphy, Jr.

Dennis Arthur Murphy Jr., 61, of Crossett, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at his home. He was born in Lovell, WY on March 12, 1957, to his parents, Dennis Arthur Sr. and Delores Marie Adams Murphy.  Dennis was raised in Hammond, LA, and was a 1977 Graduate of Raritan High School in New Jersey.  

He received several awards and an honorable discharge after serving 10 ½ years in the United States Navy as an Air Maintenance Mechanic and for 14 years he worked in the maintenance department for the Area Agency on Aging.

Dennis enjoyed visiting and talking with the elderly, was a history buff, and enjoyed following the weather. He had an appreciation for a good western, especially the ones starring John Wayne, in addition to the many James Bond movies.  He was a charmer with a heart of gold that loved to joke around with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and one son, Dennis Arthur Murphy III, also known as “Little D”; and his Mamaw and Papaw Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Rice Murphy of Crossett; one brother, Michael Murphy and wife Monica of Walker, LA; one sister, Denise Crocker of Lucedale, MS; three step-daughters, Amy Ford and husband, James, Cari Jo Burnett and husband, Charlie, all of Crossett, and Kristin Pullin and husband, Jamie, of Bastrop, LA; his mother in-law, Hughlene Rice; one sister in-law, Brenda Henderson and husband, Mike; and one brother in-law, Arron Rice all of Crossett; one niece, Ashlyn Schroeder; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at the Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Highway 52W, Crossett, AR with Brother Jamie Pullin officiating, under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
