Frank "Ed" Watt Obituary

Frank Edward “Ed” Watt, 87, of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on September 14, 1931, to his parents, Frank and Duel Lambert Watt.  He was raised, with his eleven siblings, in the Cooter area and was a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church. 

He was a carpenter who worked primarily for himself building houses, and for approximately forty-two years, he sang tenor and played the mandolin as a member of the Haley Creek Boys.

Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, breaking and riding horses, growing vegetables in his garden to share with his friends, and running dogs.

He was a headstrong family man who adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who had a country charm and sense of humor that made people want to be around him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marbeth Hamm Watt; a granddaughter, Staci Fletcher Adkins; two brothers, James Watt and Willie Van “Buddy” Watt; and five sisters, Louise Barnett, Jeanette Simmons, Patsy Nell Watt, and Genieva and Leviana Watt.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Fletcher and husband, Robert; and one son, Lawrence Watt, both of Crossett; three brothers, Bobby Watt and wife, Billie, also of Crossett; Curtis Watt and wife, Ruthie, of Hamburg, and Ronald Dean Watt of Strong; and one sister, Veralyn Oden and husband, Jr., of Hamburg; along with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27th at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Bro. Mike Chain and Bro. Jerry Carter officiating, followed by interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Frankie Tanksley, Billy Bolin, Roy Grantham, Belvin Hamm, Paul Hamm and Leon Hamm.  Honorary Pallbearers are Carroll Parker, Legett Jenkins, Harold Tucker, James Outlaw, and the Haley Creek Boys.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, July 26th at the funeral home.
