Geneva Moore Obituary

Geneva Moore, daughter of the late Robert and Alberta McGee, was born on July 8, 1929, in Crossett, Arkansas.  She attended Ashley County Training School (T.W. Daniels) and accepted Christ at an early age while attending Camp Ground A.M.E. Church in Crossett.

On December 25, 1946, she married Rev. Joseph Moore, Jr. and together they had eleven children, four daughters and seven sons.  She became a member of Hunters Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Crossett, where she served as a Deaconess and the Church Treasurer for many years.

Geneva loved going to church and reading her Bible.  She was well known in the neighborhood for selling ice cream and popsicles to the kids as a fundraiser for the Church.  She was also the best hairdresser on the block and as she would say, “I did everybody’s hair”.  She enjoyed cooking, fishing, doing word search puzzles, planting flowers and working in her vegetable garden.  She enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching her “stories”.

Geneva was a kind, generous and sweet person with a great sense of humor.  She loved spending time with her family and the family loved spending time with her.  She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Geneva Moore passed away on November 15, 2019, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Alberta McGee; husband, Rev. Joseph Moore Jr.; one son, William Moore; her infant daughter, baby Moore; four sisters, Versie Lee Martin, Thelma Carlock, Bobbie Coleman, and Lucille McGee; and two brothers, Elmerice McGee and James McGee.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters, Kayla Wright and Sheila Moore of Milwaukee, WI, and Brenda Webb of Fairview Heights, IL; six sons, Willie Moore (Vickie) of California, Roy Moore (Janice), Gary Moore (Alicia), and Raymond Moore (Michelle) all of Milwaukee, WI, Tommy Moore (Karen) of Crossett, AR, and Johnny Moore (Cynthia) of N. Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Eula Wright of Phoenix, AZ, and Robbie Williams of Richton Park, IL; three brothers, Freddie McGee (Carolyn) of Chicago, IL, Leo McGee (Gloria) of Cookeville, TN, and John T.
