Gloria Green Obituary

Gloria Faye Pennington Green, 80, of Crossett, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Woods of Monticello Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born on September 2, 1937, to her parents, Lloyd William and Naomi Lee Rowe Pennington.  She was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a 1955 graduate of Crossett High School, and a faithful member of North Crossett First Baptist Church.

Gloria was a very loving person who delighted in pleasing people.  She enjoyed cooking and serving her family, and many knew her from her years at Herk’s Restaurant and KFC.  Her collection of cookbooks was extensive, and she always made sure she had each person’s favorite dish.  At Christmas time, she would spend countless hours making homemade candy which she graciously delivered in tins to her many friends and family.  She was a former cake decorator, a cosmetologist, and even excelled at roller skating, which she did often with her daughters when they were young at the "Pink Panther Skating Rink".  Volunteering her time at the polls during elections was also important to her, as well as, cooking for the meal outreach program every Wednesday night at church.

Gloria had many talents, but she began her day each morning reading her Bible, which she had read many times from cover to cover and continued to be very involved in her church.  She delighted in pleasing people but always strived to please her God first.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Naomi Pennington; and one son, John Evans.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jack Green of Crossett; five daughters, Teena Holland and husband, Allen, of Fountain Hill, Kathy Barnett and husband, Tim, of Hamburg, Denise Chapman and husband, Travis, of Monticello, Melissa Wooten and husband, Rodney, of Crossett, and Nona Pruitt and husband, Randy, of Sherwood, a bonus daughter, Casey Wilson and husband, Chris, of Crossett; one brother, Jimmy Pennington and wife, Sue, also of Crossett; seven grandchildren, Mark (Michelle), Joel, Emily (Justin), Nicholus, Jordan, Laura (Creston), and Madison; three bonus grandchildren, Cole, Bryce, and Owen; four great-grandchildren, Brantlee, Brylee, Benton, and Riddick; and one bonus great-grandchild, Brett.

A Homegoing Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 3rd, at North Crossett First Baptist Church, 1035 Hwy 133, Crossett, with Pastor Robin Allen and Bro. Kenneth Pack officiating, followed by an interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Tim Barnett, Randy Pruitt, Chris Wilson, Justin Hale, Creston Creel, Rodney Wooten, and Brantlee Duty.  Honorary pallbearers are the men of North Crossett First Baptist Church.

A Visitation/Birthday Celebration will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m., Sunday, September 2nd, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett.
