James Kenneth Herron, 68, of Crossett, died Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at his home. He was born, April 4, 1950, in Delhi, Louisiana, to his parents Charles and Katherine Quimby Herron.
James resided in Crossett since the age of 9, was a 1968 graduate of Crossett High School, and worked for Georgia Pacific for 42 years, until his retirement at the age of 62. He enjoyed many past-times such as, fishing, coon hunting, storytelling, singing karaoke, hanging out on the riverbank, and crafting the best gumbo. James was a people person who loved his family, his dogs, and especially his miniature Dachshund, “Lowla” who held a special place in his heart, and he was truly blessed with close friends who he considered family. A life well lived full of joy and laughter.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katherine Herron; one brother, Charles Aubrey Herron; and one sister, Carolyn Rizzo. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sheila Ross Herron of Crossett; one son, James Riley Herron of West Monroe, LA; one daughter, Vanessa DeRuzzo of Clearwater, FL; one sister, Joanne Herron of Corpus Christi, TX; one granddaughter, Ashlynn DeRuzzo of Zephyrhills, FL; and one great-grandson, Mason DeRuzzo also of Zephyrhills.
