Jesse "JC" Manning Obituary

Jesse Cameron “JC” Manning, 72, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at home.  He was born in Crossett, AR on August 18, 1944, to his parents, Ralph Cameron and Marie Defee Manning.  He and his wife, Genia Kay, were married in 1964, and he worked for Georgia Pacific as an operator in the Bleach Plant for 44 years until his retirement.   He also served the North Crossett Fire Department as a volunteer for 25 years.  He and Genia Kay raised their three children in church and considered First Free Will Baptist their church family.  Fishing, hunting, and gardening were among his favorite outdoor activities, however, being able to share those moments with those who called him “Papaw” made them much more special.  JC was the greatest of Papaws and whether it was teaching his grandchildren to drive, fish, or garden, he cherished every minute.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Manning.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Genia Kay Manning of Crossett; two sons, Jason Manning of Crossett and Paul Manning and wife Betsy of Little Rock; one daughter, Terry Barnes and husband James also of Little Rock; and four grandchildren, Mason Manning and wife Lauren of Crossett, and Kate, Cameron, and Claire Barnes of Little Rock.

A Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 25th at First Free Will Baptist Church, 1301 Mimosa St, in Crossett with Pastor Jim Baker officiating, followed by an interment at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Royce Young, Jack Green, Doyle Coody, Douglas Neal, Larry Linder, Dewey Carter, and James Miller.
