Jessie Reginald "Reggie" Roberson

Jessie Reginald “Reggie” Roberson, 80, of Beeville, TX, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Christus Spohn Hospital. He was born on October 31, 1937, to his parents, Jessie Woodrow, and Vinnie Lucille Pace Roberson in Fountain Hill, Arkansas.  Reggie grew up on his family’s farm and graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1957.

He served in the Army National Guard and enjoyed an active life excelling in baseball and basketball.  In 1959, he began a 53-year career which included employers, Georgia Pacific, Owens, IL Plywood Plant, and Hunt Forest Products, where he eventually retired.

Reggie was an avid watcher of "The Price Is Right", and enjoyed tending his vegetable garden and hunting, but most of all was a huge Arkansas Razorback fan. He loved football, basketball, and baseball and could easily recall the scores and even the players’ names.  He was a man who never met a stranger, had a “larger than life” personality, and loved his family dearly.

He is proceeded in death by his parents and survived by five daughters, Phyllis Kovar of Lufkin, TX, Debbie Walker and husband, Robert, of Conroe, TX, Janice McCroy, and DeeAnn Mitchell, and husband, Casey, all of Silsbee TX, and Christy Putnam and husband, Max, of Beeville, TX; five sisters, Virginia Bailey of Conway, Rachel Podwinski of Council Bluffs, IA, Melba Wilkerson and husband, Paul, of Hamburg, Kitty Meeks and husband, Randall, and Kaye Robinson and husband, Jimmy, all of Crossett; three brothers, Ron Roberson and wife, Pat, of Kansas City, KS, Tommy Roberson of Maumelle, and Billy Rice and wife, Nikki, of Crossett; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21st at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Bro. Keith Boseman officiating, followed by an interment at Flat Creek Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Mason Clegg, Ryder Putnam, Chase Putnam, Danny Rice, Johnny Walthall, and Pat Allison.

Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the American Heart Association.
