Jimmie Lea “Jim” Craig, 59, of Crossett, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born on February 16, 1959, in Ruston, Louisiana to his parents, Jimmie Granger and Barbara Donaldson Craig. He grew up in Gould, Arkansas, was a 1977 graduate of Star City High School, and a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett. Since 1996, he worked for Georgia Pacific as a Bleach Plant Operator and later earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree for EMT/Paramedic from the South Arkansas Community College of El Dorado. Becoming a paramedic was a very fulfilling career for Jim. He worked in Ashley County and surrounding areas and enjoyed having the ability to help others whenever needed. He also enjoyed camping, watching the Arkansas Razorbacks play, working in his yard, and especially enjoyed fishing. Jim was a strong Christian man who loved and cared for his family and adored his grandchildren, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie and Le Ora Blackwell, Jimmie Lea and Eleanor Craig, and HD and Agnes Donaldson; his father, Jimmie Granger Craig; and one brother, Phillip Craig.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Keen Craig of Crossett; his mother, Barbara Ann Craig of Gould, AR; two daughters, Christin McLain (Kevin) of Swartz, LA, and Sarah Craig (Dawson Chavers) of Walnut Hill, FL; two sons, Jeremy Morgan (Carrie) of McKinney, TX, and Matt Morgan (Katy) of Crossett; one brother, Dr. Jeff Craig (Dr. Sherrye) of Conway; one sister, Sandy Pendergrass (Timmy Joe) of Star City; nine grandchildren, Zoe, Gracee, and Tori McLain, Ella Chavers, Kason Brooks, and Blake, Levi, Maddox, and Sadie Morgan; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19th at the First Baptist Church of Crossett, 701 Main St., with Pastor Jamie Staley officiating, followed by an interment at 4:45 p.m. at the Dark Corner Cemetery in Gould, AR under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Cody Hale, Charlie Cummins, Johnny Brooks, Clay Pinkett, Mark Pinkett, and Bryan Stewart.
Visitation will be from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
