Joe Harold Swan Obituary

Joe Harold Swan, 85, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at the Ashley County Medical Center.  He was born on August 11, 1933, in Parkdale, AR to his parents, William Lonza and Virgie Alto Swan.  On October 17, 1952, he married his sweetheart, Laverne, which began a loving bond that lasted over 65 years and produced three children. 

He was a former Pentecostal Preacher, a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Crossett, and a Meter Reader for the City of Crossett for 32 years. 

Harold enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting, and playing with his special dog, “Casey”.  He never met a stranger, loved making people laugh, and was always full of fun and mischief.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Lonza Swan and Virgie Alto Cartilage Swan; four brothers, Scott, James, T.B., and Braxton Swan; and four sisters, Vivian Hobby, Margaret Curtis, Ruby Johnson, and Elise Curtis.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne Pamplin Swan of Crossett; two daughters, Dianne Hartness also of Crossett and Vickie White and husband, Wayne, of Camden; one son, David Swan of Pine Bluff; six grandchildren, Joey Walton, Andy White, Brad White, Timmy White, Michael Scroggins, and Phillip Scroggins; nine great-grandchildren; and three special nephews, Buddy Graham, Bennie Swan, and Donnie Swan. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26th at the First United Pentecostal Church of Crossett, 102 Etheridge Drive with Pastor Larry Hickman officiating, followed by an interment at Carlock Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Phillip Jones, Doyle Walton, Calvin Stewart, Ricky Pruitt, Jeremy Maxwell, and Brandon Fitch.  Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Daugherty, Jerry Walton, Harold Pruitt, and DWayne Miles.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, August 25th at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett.
