Joseph “Joey” Frank Parks, 38, of Crossett, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at his home. He was born on November 25, 1979, to his parents, James and Bonnie Tanksley Parks. He was a 1999 graduate of Crossett High School and a member of Tillar Baptist Church.
Joey was a fun-loving guy who never met a stranger and enjoyed aggravating and making people laugh.
His favorite days would’ve included fishing and running nets on the Mississippi River, hunting, mud riding, pulling his nieces and nephews around on a tube on Lake Chicot, and riding the levee watching for deer.
The Colts and the Razorbacks were his teams and Hank, Jr. and all his friends played his music. He was a proud-to-be “river rat” who loved the Lord, and his family, especially his mamaw.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Tanksley, and O.D. and Margaret Parks; and his aunt and uncle, Bobby and Dora Parks.
He is survived by his parents, James and Bonnie Parks of Crossett; four sisters, Christie Quimby and fiancé, Glen Elliott, of Crossett, Tammy Parks and fiancé, Thomas Williams, also of Crossett, Tabatha Parks and fiancé Doyle Kelley, of Big Sandy, TX, and Alverta “Verta” Johnson and fiancé, “Red” Lawrence, of Hot Springs; one brother, James Parks, Jr. and wife, Clarissa, of Crossett; his mamaw, Lavenia Tanksley of Crossett; his aunt, Eloise Shaver of McGehee; and aunt and uncle, Doris and Paul Colburn of Evanston, WY; along with twelve nieces and nephews, Tyler, Lance, April, Amanda, Cody, Michael, Dillon, Tiffany, Brittany, Clayton, Sabrina, and Porsha; and four great-nieces and nephews, Tyler, Jr., Bentlee, Caliegh, and Cason.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 12th at Rolfe Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 786 Hwy 82 W, Crossett, with Pastors Carlton White and Ricky Pack officiating, followed by an interment at Unity Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Tyler Pennington, Lance Ross, Michael Quimby, Dillon Quimby, Cody Stevens, and Jessie McCarty.
