Linda Joyce Nichols Roam, 78, of Crossett, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Ashley County Medical Center. She was born in Hope, Arkansas on October 27, 1940, to her parents Duncan Wallace and Nollie Kathryn Bush Nichols. Linda was a resident of Crossett most of her life, an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and a Beta Sigma Phi member at large of the Xi Alpha Omega Chapter.
Over the years she worked at various places including Georgia Pacific in the payroll department, Industrial Mill and Maintenance Supply, and eventually retired from Smart Corp. at the Ashley County Medical Center in 2013.
Linda loved wearing her sparkly jewelry, going shopping, singing in the church choir, attending concerts, and was a genuine Elvis fan for most of her life.
Linda was a sweet, silly person who loved everyone, especially her grandchildren and her dog, Slugger.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Harley Preston “Bob” Roam, and one brother, Duncan Wallace Nichols, II.
She is survived by one daughter, Tonya Cooper and husband, Corky, of Crossett; four grandchildren, Zachary N. Cooper, and Easton Grey Cooper also of Crossett, Chance Cooper of Fayetteville, Kristyn Cooper Chenault and husband, Brian, of Sicily, Italy; three great-grandchildren, Cade, Brennan, and Archer Chenault also of Sicily.; one brother, Gary W. Nichols and wife, Sharon, of Sun City, AZ;. and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 3rd at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1533 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, with Bro. Eric Hodge and Bro. David Tohlen officiating, followed by an interment at Outlaw Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Greg Cooper, Blake Cooper, Brandon Crume, Adam Person, Joe Carl, and Ken McDonald.
Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2nd, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
