Octavia "Liz" Warren Obituary

Crossett native Octavia Elizabeth “Liz” Binns Warren, 82 years young, passed on to her Heavenly life Tuesday, September 20, 2017, at Ashley County Medical Center surrounded by many of her loving family members, including her husband of 60 years, Travis. The couple had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary the week before with their two daughters, Leisa Mixon and Nancy Craig.

Mrs. Warren was born July 29, 1935, in Crossett, to Virginia Ruth “Jack” (Goyne) and James Hubert Binns. On September 14, 1957, she married Travis Edward Warren at North Crossett First Baptist Church and had two daughters – Leisa and Nancy. She was a truly selfless person, always happily putting her family’s needs before her own as if it were her honor and joy to do so. Serving the people she loved brought that glowing signature smile to her face that was so charming it was too big to contain in just a smile and poured out of every part of her face, especially her eyes. She loved babysitting, being active in First Church of God, and singing in the choir, and her sense of humor was as big and beautiful as her smile.

She was an exceptional gardener and was just as good at turning what she had grown into a delicious dish or canning it to save for later. She was involved in the Christian Women’s Connection (CWC) and enjoyed her Sunday School class, but she also looked forward to chances to get away from town to go camping, fishing, or traveling to places like area flea markets or Branson’s Silver Dollar City.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her husband, Travis; her daughter, Leisa Mixon and her husband, Wayne; her daughter, Nancy Craig and her husband, Stan; one sister, Pat Carpenter; four grandchildren, Randall Mixon and his wife, Rebecca; Michael Mixon and his wife, Kara, Jessica (Craig) Tippen and her husband, Jesse, and Stephanie Craig and her fiance, Luke Nolan. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Sarah, Grant, Ethan, Aubrey, Zoey, Tyler, and Tessa.

She is preceded in death by her parents Virginia and Hubert; two sisters, Marion Head and Beatrice Crosby; and two brothers, Charles Binns and Robert Binns.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 22nd, at the First Church of God, 1501 Main St., Crossett, with Pastor Randy Ivy officiating, followed by an interment at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Tommy Sturgeon, Dale Hester, Danny Smith, David Walker, Anthony Johnson, and Wayne Jordan. Honorary Pallbearers are the Pahal Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 21st, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W in North Crossett.
