Sherrell Hisaw Obituary

Sherrell S. Hisaw, 89, of Crossett passed away Monday, December 16, 2019, at his home.  He was born in Rosedale, Mississippi, on February 6, 1930, to his parents, Johnnie and Alma Mae Dempsey Hisaw.  He grew up on a farm and graduated from Rosedale High School. 

At the age of 19, his family moved to Crossett.  He joined the First Church of God, where he was a faithful member for 70 years and served on the church board as a chairman for 3 years.

Sherrell played a role in starting the Gideons Camp in Crossett, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a serious Ole Miss Football fan.

For 37 years, he owned and operated Hisaw Shoe Shop, where he repaired shoes and enjoyed visiting with customers. He was a sweet, friendly man who never met a stranger and loved to talk. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Holder, Doris Tew, and Bea Miller; and three brothers, Jim Hisaw, J.C. Hisaw, and Billy Frank Hisaw.
Sherrell is survived by his wife, Remona Hisaw of Crossett; two daughters, Vicki Stephenson of Conway, and Liz White and husband, Richard, of Lake Village; two grandchildren, Meredith Mangum and husband, Daniel, of Conway, and Lauren Case and husband, Bryan, of Warren, six great-grandchildren, Myra Victoria Mangum, Peyton Elizabeth Mangum, John Stephen Mangum, Jaxson Brady Case, Logan Bryce Case, and Jacob Grant Case; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 17th, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of God, 1501 Main St. Crossett, with Pastor Mike Neal and Bro. Robert Ballard, officiating, followed by a private interment at Crossroads Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Dale Hester, Danny Smith, Glenn Johnson, Tommy Sturgeon, Ernie Stephenson, Chick Sipes, Anthony Johnson, Daniel Mangum, and Bryan Case.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
