Agnes Rickman, 93, of Crossett, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Ashley County Medical Center. She was born on August 10, 1924, in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Helen Wilson, the only daughter of four children. In 1944, she met an American GI from Arkansas that won her heart and would change her life forever. He was the love of her life. They married on December 7, 1944, in Glasgow, Scotland and he was shipped out from there to another country after only a week. A year later, after the war ended, she set sail on a ship for the United States of America and arrived in New York City on March 3, 1946. Within a few days, she was reunited with her Johnny, as she called him, to begin their life together in Crossett, Arkansas. To this union was born four children who were her pride and joy. She was a devout Christian who loved The Lord with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength and loved her neighbor as herself which was very evident by the fruits of the Spirit in her life, especially love. She never met a stranger and two of her greatest joys was cooking for people and sewing. There is a piece of her in many a home in Crossett whether it is an outfit that she sewed or a doll that she made. She loved unconditionally and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.T., her son, Johnny; her granddaughter, Sherri; and three brothers, Bill, John, and Don from the United Kingdom. She is survived by a son, Tommy Rickman; two daughters, Helen Naff and husband, Roger, and Connie Fuller and husband, Richard; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Rickman, all of Crossett, along with five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
