April Suzanne Kelley, born April 25, 1988, in Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 36. She is preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Faye Kelley, who adventurous spirit she carried in her own life.
April is survived by her beloved daughter, Luna Ocean Ross, of Lufkin, Texas; her devoted mother, Linda Faye Herndon, and spouse, of Crossett, Arkansas; her siblings: Michael Kelley and spouse of McLoud, Oklahoma, Joseph Adam Kelley of Springfield, Missouri; Nicole Lyndsey Kelley and spouse of Waco, Texas; Matthew Schoonover of Wichita, Kansas; Mariana Kelley; and Troy Kelley of Violet Hill, Arkansas. She was blessed with the guidance of two father figures, Lonnie Faye Kelley and Wesley Kelley, who both played significant roles in her life.
April was blessed with a large and loving family, filled with countless cousins, nieces and nephews. They are too numerous to name individually, yet each one held a special place in her heart.
April graduated high school in 2006 and graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2014. She pursued her dream of becoming a journalist. Her determination and passion led her to achieve this goal, and her love for storytelling took her across the country, from the woods of Arkansas to the coasts of Florida and beyond to Louisiana, Colorado, Wyoming and wherever the road called, April’s adventurous heart knew no bounds.
Like her father, she was a wandering soul, driven by curiosity and a love for life’s unfolding stories. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, her fearless spirit, and her ability to find beauty in the world even when she doubted her own place in it.
April was deeply loved, even in moments when she didn’t realize it. Her family and friends will continue to carry her memory in their hearts, seeing her smile on every journey they take and every horizon they chase.
Memorial services will be held at Medders Funeral Home in Crossett, Arkansas, to celebrate April’s life, on February 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by exploring a new road, capturing a new story, or simply embracing the world with her same sense of wonder.
