Archie Jones Obituary

Archie Lee Jones, 64, of Crossett, passed away on Wednesday, December 30th in Little Rock, AR.  He was born to the late Tyree and Earnestine Jones of Crossett, AR on December 4, 1956.

He was a faithful member of Gates Chapel AME church under the spiritual care of Pastor Harriel White.  He participated in the men’s church group where he occasionally sang in the men’s chorus and served breakfast for the body of Christ.

Archie graduated in 1975 from Crossett high where he soared as a Crossett Eagle in football, baseball, and basketball.  He attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello, pledged Phi Beta Sigma under UAPB’s Beta Theta chapter to ultimately create the UAM Charter chapter, Lambda Zeta.

In 1976, Archie began working at Georgia Pacific extrusion plant and later retiring in 2019 as a machine operator.

Archie was united in holy matrimony to Vanessa (Bankston) Jones of Crossett, Arkansas in 1983 – 1996.

Archie was a member of the Crossett bowling league and made many friends with his winning smile.  He loved his blue and white colors of his fraternity.  His hobbies included playing softball and driving fast cars in his younger years.  In his more mature years, Archie’s focus and passion was bowling in tournaments anywhere there was a lane in the country.  He enjoyed watching sports that include golf, tennis, track, basketball, football and baseball, but had special love for razorback sports and the Dallas Cowboys.  He was fascinated with aviation as he enjoyed watching airplanes and helicopters.  He loved hanging out with life-long friends at the Fishing Club.  Archie’s love for his family had no limits as he would do anything for his loved ones.

He is survived by his 3 daughters:  Ashley Mohair  (Timyeus Mohair), Adrianna Jones both of Denton, TX; Ceclyn Harris of Bastrop, LA:  4 Grandchildren; Avery Mohair & Dylan Mohair (Ashley&Timyeus Mohair), Rian Carr (Adrianna Jones), and Braylie Brooks (Ceclyn Harris):  Significant Other, Debra Howard; 6 Siblings Nancy Jones, Richard C.
