Aubrey "Mark" Orr Obituary

Aubrey “Mark” Orr, 59, of Crossett, passed away on October 3, 2021.  He was born on January 11, 1962, was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a 1980 graduate of Crossett High School, and a member of the South Main Baptist Church.

For several years, Mark served as a shop steward for the USW Local 369 and was the president of the Hickory Grove Cemetery Board for two years.  He also took great pride in being a 32nd-degree mason and a boilermaker.

He traveled as a boilermaker for some time, working at different plants whenever needed, until he was hired by the Bemis Bag Company in Crossett.  After a few years at Bemis, he began a career that would last twenty-one years with Georgia Pacific, working as a boilermaker/mechanic in the maintenance department then an Air Technician for the last fifteen.

Mark enjoyed camping, horseback riding, riding wheelers, and canoeing with friends and family, especially in the Arkansas mountains.

His many talents included gardening, carpentry, and welding.  He was also an amazing cook, a jokester, and a storyteller.  He felt most at home in front of his grill, griddle, or crawfish pot, cooking and telling funny stories to entertain anyone who would listen.  Mark loved to talk and most often was the center of attention.

He had an infectious larger-than-life personality, and he never met a stranger.  He was a friendly, thoughtful, and selfless man who had an incredible love for people, along with his many animals, including dogs, cats, and horses.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Dorothey Miller Orr.

He leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of fifteen years, Shelley Dixon Orr, four sons, Lee Orr of Crossett, Josh Cunningham and special daughter-in-law, Leann, of Benton, AR, Caleb Cunningham of Sherwood, AR, and David Parker (Julie) of Crossett; along with one sister, Linda Brooks of Shreveport, LA; and two grandchildren, Lane, and Waylon Orr.

A Graveside Service with masonic rites will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Crossett with Bro. Keith Boseman, officiating.  Pallbearers are Larry Hudson, Bill Rawls, Bill Simpson, David Ferguson, Jeff Norrell, and Lonnie Martin.
