Barbara “Barbie” Jean Brantley, 60, of Crossett, went to be with her Lord and Savior` on Monday, October 17, 2022, at her home. She was born on May 22, 1962, to her parents, J.B., and Doris Craig Kelley. She was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a 1980 graduate of CHS, and a member of South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1990, Barbie earned an associate degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and stepped into the role God had cast for her, a nurse. Her selfless nurturing nature combined with her bubbly personality proved to be the perfect blend, making her patients feel relaxed and loved. She was extremely smart and funny and possessed the ability to captivate all her friends and coworkers who adored her.
She enjoyed working on crafts, flower gardening, and taking beach trips with her friends and family.
Animals held a special place in her heart, as did the many children she took in and mothered as if they were her own.
Her strength, courage, and faith inspired all who followed her journey, and while clothed in her whole armor of God, Barbie fought her battle, and she won.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Ethan Brantley.
She leaves behind her husband of forty-two years, Tony Brantley; and one daughter, Emily Johnson (Cole), both of Crossett; along with four siblings, Phil Kelley (Joyce), Rickie Baker, Pattie Green (Mike), and Greg Kelley (Mandy) also of Crossett, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20th, at Crossroads Cemetery in Crossett, with Pastor Bob Whiteley and Chaplain Jim Gibson, officiating.
Pallbearers are Paul Greene, Lane Kelley, Trent Kelley, Evan Kelley, Steve Craig, and James Meeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the scholarship created in her honor.
Medders Funeral Home has been entrusted with her services.
