Betty Jean “B.J.” Kufro, 69, of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born on January 28, 1955, in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, B.J. was a cherished daughter of the Keystone State, where she spent her formative years, and a proud graduate of Mahanoy Area High School’s Class of 1972.
B.J.'s passion for cooking defined much of her life. For many years, she worked as a short order cook, delighting countless customers with her talents in the kitchen. In her later years, as health challenges took their toll, B.J. retired from her beloved profession but continued to find joy in her family and her furry friends. Her greatest joy came from her role as “Oma”, a title she held with immense pride and affection. B.J.'s grandchildren were the light of her life, and her love for them knew no bounds. Her cats, too, were a source of comfort and companionship, reflecting the tender and nurturing side of her character.
Along with her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Jean Hanlon Kufro, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Barry Kufro, Sr., and Gerald Kufro; and one infant, Joseph Kufro.
She leaves behind one daughter, Casey Wilson (Chris) of Crossett, AR; one sister, Bonnie Kufro of Mahanoy City, PA; and two brothers, James Kufro (Kathy) of Shenandoah, PA, and Robert Kufro (Ann Marie) of Freeland, PA; along with three grandchildren, Bryce Wilson (Meredith), Owen Wilson, and Cole Moss; three great-grandchildren, Brett, Madelyn, and Noah Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Care entrusted to Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
No services will be held at this time.
