Beverly Ann (Dickerson) Rice

Beverly Ann Rice, 73, of Hamburg, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Born on October 10, 1951, she was a lifelong resident of Ashley County and a 1969 graduate of Crossett High School.

Beverly was a trailblazer, becoming Arkansas’s first female car sales agent. She spent many years working at Ashley Motor Company in Crossett before continuing her career at Lucky's Motor Company in Monticello. Her work ethic and personality left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Beverly also volunteered wholeheartedly with the "Make a Wish" foundation and CASA, showing her boundless compassion for children and those in need.

Beverly had a vibrant spirit that extended into every facet of her life. She enjoyed shopping, decorating her home, cooking for her family, and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. She was outspoken, sassy, and outgoing, with a heart of gold, never meeting a stranger and always making others feel welcome.

An active member of Egypt Missionary Baptist Church, Beverly’s faith was central to her life. She adored her church family and was extremely proud to be a child of God.  She was never happier than when her church pew was filled with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she was their beloved matriarch.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Laydell and Peggy Gardner Dickerson, one granddaughter, Austin Paccio, and one great-granddaughter, Addi.

She leaves behind her husband and best friend of fifty-five years, Donnie Rice; one son, Jamie Rice (Heather) of Harrison, AR; and one daughter, Angie Abernathy (Randy) of Crossett; along with one sister, Versa Reed (Phillip) of Hamburg; seven grandchildren, Seth and Skylar Abernathy; Chazz Rice (Brittney), Brieana and Jimmy Hartsfield, and Kimrey and Autumn Rice; and four great-grandchildren, Scarlett Abernathy, Huxley and Ella Rice, and Rivers Overby.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27th, at the Egypt Missionary Baptist Church, 563 Ashley Rd 95, in Hamburg, with Pastor Keith Rose, officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m., at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Make A Wish” Foundation.
