Billy Wayne Johnson, age 82 of Crossett, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, February 6, 2022, at his home. He was born on January 4, 1940, to Dooley and Loene Johnson.
Billy Wayne had a warm and joyful personality, and never met a stranger. He was a loving husband and father but being “Pa” was his greatest joy. He worked hard for many years as a salvage wood contractor that was passed down from grandfather. He also served his country in the United States Army. As a devoted husband, he was never far from ‘Momma Fay’ and the two loved catching crappie and hosting family fish fries. In earlier years they served their church family by teaching Sunday School with a great adoration for young people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dooley and Loene Johnson; his loving wife of fifty-one years, Verna Fay Johnson ‘Momma Fay’; step-son, Mike Herrington; granddaughters, Brenda Lynn Strebeck and Joy Alonzo; brothers, Charles and Bobby Johnson; and sisters, Doris Hudson and Patsy Simpson.
Billy Wayne is survived by his daughter and son in love, Ernie and Kay Alonzo, who were his devoted caretakers; stepdaughter, Linda Rushing; sister, Susie (Sammy) Bolin; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The services for Billy Wayne Johnson will be private.
