Billy Fletcher Jones, 88, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, formerly of Crossett, passed away peacefully on the night of Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Born on May 1, 1937, in Pine Bluff to the late Thelma Nutt Jones and the late George S. Jones, Billy accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of eleven and recommitted his life to Jesus in 2023. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church in Crossett.
Billy proudly served his country in both the United States Navy during the Korean War and later in the United States Marines. Following his service, he dedicated 41 years to Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill as a loyal Shift Supervisor.
Billy was known for his infectious sense of humor, always bringing laughter and joy to everyone around him. He loved spending time in nature - hunting, fishing, and going to his camps - and had a deep appreciation for the mountains. Above all, he cherished his family and was a devoted husband, grandfather, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethyle Jones; two brothers, George Jones Jr. and David Jones; two sisters, Marilon “Sissy” Jones and Norma Jean Jones; and his youngest granddaughter, Corrine "Cori" Garrett.
Billy is survived by his stepson, Gerald Garrett, and his wife, Sandy Garrett; two granddaughters, Siobhan McCracken and Elyse Garrett of Jacksonville, FL; three great grandchildren, Persephone McCracken, Koralin McCracken and Phynn McCracken of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Raymond Jones (Diane) of Pine Bluff ; and a sister, Carlyon Jones Lindaman.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, AR, with Bro. Keith Boseman officiating. Due to the excessive heat, a private burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Belvin Hamm, Bobby Noble, Steve Childers, Gary Fife, Logan Fife, and Jonathan Childers.
Visitation will be held from 2:00–3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Billy’s love, laughter, and light will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
