Billy Harold Murphy, 89, of Foley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2024.
Born on August 5, 1935, in Crossett, Arkansas, Billy proudly served as a veteran and dedicated
25 years to Georgia Pacific.
After retiring, he and his late wife, Martha, traveled the country in their motorhome, making
friends wherever they went. Known for his outgoing nature, Billy had a unique ability to strike
up a conversation with anyone, earning him a reputation as someone who never met a
stranger. He had a passion for sweets and enjoyed sipping Diet Coke with plenty of ice.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Murphy; his parents, Aubrey and Gladys Murphy;
his brother, William Murphy; his grandson, Joe Bill Matous Jr.; and his granddaughter, Johanna
Ferguson.
Billy is survived by his brother, Jimmy Murphy of Crossett, AR; his daughter, Beth Matous and
son-in-law, Joe Bill Sr. of Foley, AL; his son, David Murphy of Portland, OR; 5 grandchildren and
their spouses; and numerous other family members who loved him dearly.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 9th at Crossroads Cemetery in Crossett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hospice Foundation of America in his memory.
