Brady Wayne Parker, 86, of Crossett, AR passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on September 7, 2023.
He was born in Harrell, AR in Calhoun County on July 1, 1937, to Ellis and Mary Thompson Parker. Brady graduated from Harrell High School before going to work for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Camden and later retired from the Georgia-Pacific Extrusion Plant after 33.5 years of service. He was a member of West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, Brady is preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Myrle Parker, one sister, Betty Armer, and his daughter-in-law, Connie Parker.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Betty, son Joe Parker, daughter Janice Coulter (Seth), his grandchildren, Amy Ford (James), Cari Jo Jenkins (Justin), Kristin Pullin (Jamie), Katie Coulter, Kelsey Duke (Keith), Courtney Coulter, Micki Barnett (Joey), Michael Buckner and nine great-grandchildren.
Brady enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, hunting, and woodworking, but his favorite role was that of being "Pappy." He treasured his time with his granddaughters and loved throwing them over his shoulder when they were young while calling them a "sack ‘a taters". Brady was famous for Pappy’s rolls and would lovingly allow the young granddaughters to help him in the kitchen as he whipped up a batch. After mixing all the ingredients together, the girls would have their little hands completely covered in sticky dough. Pappy would use a spoon to scrape each hand clean. He will be remembered for his quiet spirit and generous heart.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 8. from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church, 1510 Hwy 82 W, in Crossett. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. at West Crossett Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. John Marlar and Seth Coulter. Internment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery, officiated by Jamie Pullin.
Pallbearers are Michael Parker, Clay Parker, Daryl Parker, Ian McClain, David Stephenson, and Greg Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers are Pappy’s grandsons-in-law: James Ford, Jamie Pullin, Justin Jenkins, Keith Duke, and Joey Barnett.
