Calvin "Shane" Rice, 42, of Hamburg, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born on July 31, 1980, in Monroe, LA, was a lifelong resident of Ashley County, and a 1999 graduate of Crossett High School.
Shane had a strong work ethic. Throughout his life, he held various construction jobs, where he displayed his dedication and commitment no matter how hard the job. He loved the great outdoors and could often be found fishing, playing golf, riding four-wheelers, and immersing himself in muddy adventures which were among his favorite pastimes. He was an avid lover of nature but also enjoyed the challenge of video games where he could show off his skills and share time with his children.
Shane was also obsessed with Arkansas Razorback memorabilia and uniquely fascinated with dragons, which he collected, revealing his imaginative spirit and appreciation for the extraordinary.
Shane had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh that would brighten anyone's day. He had a knack for making people smile and laugh, often going to great lengths to bring joy to those around him. His goofy nature and playful spirit endeared him to friends and strangers alike.
Above all, Shane had an immense love for people. His children held a special place in his heart. He cherished his role as a father and would call his children several times a day, ensuring they knew how deeply he cared for them. The bond he shared with his kids was unbreakable and filled with unconditional love.
Shane is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Rice; and his grandparents, Harvey and Annie Rice, Jr., Clarence Murphy, and Janie Brockwell.
He leaves behind his four children, Jennifer Nicole Rice of Crossett, and Kayla Noel Boles, Electra Lynn Rice, and Brayden Shane Rice all of Hot Springs; his mother, Chris Murphy Ferrell; one sister, Tonya Kaye Sadler (Terry); and one niece, Terryn Kaye Sadler all of Hamburg; and a host of friends and other relatives.
No services will be held at this time.
