Charles Edward Brown, 73, of Crossett, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Ashley County Medical Center. He was born on July 25, 1945, to his parents, Cleotha and Vera Lee Holmes Brown and was a lifelong resident of Crossett.
He was a 1964 graduate of T.W. Daniel High School and a supervisor at Jones Funeral Home of Crossett where he helped serve the families of Ashley County for forty-six years.
He was a member and former deacon of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the Trustee Board, was past president of the Youth Ushers, and a member of both the Senior Ushers and the male chorus.
Charles enjoyed watching the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Indianapolis Colts play football and spending relaxing days on the water catching a few fish.
He was an unforgettable mentor and confidant to countless friends and former co-workers and a caring friend to families during their darkest times. He was also inherently funny and loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Billy Jean Brown, and one brother, Cleazell Brown.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Helen “Cookie” Brown of Crossett; six children, Latoria Brown of Crossett, Undra Stanley and fiance, Shae, of Bernice, LA, Edward Charles Brown and wife, Tonya, also of Crossett, Pamala Stanley of Alexander, AR, Bernita Jones and husband, Tony, and Napoleon Brown and wife, Shalisa, all of Crossett; three sisters, Virginia Guilford and husband, Charles, of Upper Marlboro, MD, Ruth Byrd of Crossett, and Billy Dove Willis of Strong; nineteen grandchildren, Dimetria Brown, Undra J. Stanley, Jasmaine and Terry Hill, Shanae and Spencer Govan, Michael Jenkins, Diamond Brown, Jada Wilson, Keyth Howard, Jr., Ariel King, Trinity Thompson, Taylor Jones, Brittany Brown, Alayshia Duff, Toni Jones, Napoleon Charles Brown II, Ethan Charles Brown, and Zachary Scott Brown; five great-grandchildren; and ten Godchildren; along with a very special cousin, J.C. “Butch” Loggins, Jr. and a host of other nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 17th at the Gates Chapel AME Church, 305 W 3rd Ave, in Crossett with Reverend Steven Conley officiating, followed by interment at Westview Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 16th at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett.
