Charles "C.R." Russell Davis, Jr., 82, of Crossett, passed away on June 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born on October 24, 1943, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Charles had been a cherished part of the Crossett community for 36 years. In June of 1962, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Claborn Davis, beginning a beautiful journey that spanned 64 devoted years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered around faith, love, laughter, and family. Charles retired as a research chemist after 15 years with Monsanto and 22 years with Georgia Pacific, a career marked by dedication, intelligence, and hard work. While he took great pride in his education and the several patents that bore his name, his greatest accomplishments were always his family. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whether sharing stories, working with his hands in his woodworking projects, helping with crossword puzzles, or simply enjoying their company. Charles never met a stranger and had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome. He loved telling jokes and bringing smiles to those around him, and the twinkle in his eye was often the first sign that something hilarious was about to be said. His kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family made him deeply loved by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Vivian Lee Morrison Davis; one beloved grandson, Alex Kyle Farmer; three sisters; and one brother.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of love are his devoted wife of 64 years, Mary Davis; his two daughters, Sheila Farmer and Suzanne Maxwell (Carlton); one grandson, Justin Farmer (Roxanne); three granddaughters, Caitlan Cotton (Chris), Jessica Farmer, and Shelby Moffatt (Brandon); and five treasured great-grandsons, Matthew Farmer, Bryan Swan, Cooper Cotton, Reed Farmer, and Reece Farmer. To his family, he was their greatest encourager, their source of laughter, and the steady presence they could always count on. The memories they shared and the love he poured into each of their lives will remain in their hearts forever.
Private memorial services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026.
