Connie Herrington Obituary

Connie Anita Herrington, 67, of Crossett, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Somerset Senior Living Center.  She was born on November 13, 1952, to her parents, Jessie and Betty Jane Ogden Bowen.  She was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a 1971 CHS graduate, and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Over the years, she worked for Chase Bag Company and also worked as a cashier and greeter at Wal-Mart.

She enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and reading Danielle Steel novels, and once wrote her very own children’s book.  She loved to cook for her family, especially during the holidays, and was known for her burnt pecan pies, which due to her persistence, never failed to make an annual appearance.

Connie was funny and enjoyed joking around with everyone and was a good big sister.  She loved to travel, and after being told she was sick, she went on a “bucket list” adventure across the country which she enjoyed tremendously.

She is preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Don Yates, one brother, Ronnie Bowen, and one daughter in-law, Carmen Fields.

She is survived by one son, Bryan Fields of El Paso, AR; two daughters, Donna McDonald (Ken) and Brooke Herrington and fiancé’, Scott Crass, all of Crossett; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Hendrix (Robert) of West Monroe, LA, and Pam Abney (Tim) of Crossett; eight grandchildren, Lacie and Emily Fields, Abby and Andrew McDonald, Jeremy, Adam, and Austin Whisler, and Ayden Crass; along with two great-grandchildren, Easton Graham and Jonas Chambless.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 20th at Unity Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Andrew McDonald, Jeremy Whisler, Adam Whisler, Austin Whisler, Ken McDonald, Scott Crass, and Bryan Fields.  Honorary pallbearers are Tim Abney and Robert Hendrix.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 19th at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Ronald McDonald House.
