Cynthia Nicole “Nikki” Wheless Barnett, 38, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, April 6, surrounded by the love of her family and friends after a brief illness.
Nikki was born June 4, 1987. She lived life with spunk and a true zest for living, and her angelic voice, along with her bright eyes and radiant smile, could light up any room. Nikki was a devoted wife and loving mother who found joy in helping others and was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She had a compassionate heart of gold and was a best friend to many. A loving and devoted daughter, she enjoyed cooking, crafting, painting, music, decorating, and scrapbooking, and she had a special way of making everyone feel special.
She was proud of her faith and was a Christian whose life was guided by her love for the Lord. Nikki always made time for her children and treasured playing games with them, ensuring each one felt loved and special. She was known for jokingly telling her mother, “My mother is getting hard to raise.” Above all, family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them, just as they cherished her.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Wheless of Crossett; her sister, Nejeana Fowler of Ft. Polk, LA; her paternal grandparents, James and Mertyl Wheless; and her maternal grandmother, Opal Watkins and her best friend; Alicia Liles.
Nikki is survived by her husband of six years, Mark Barnett; two sons, Joshua Barnett and Noah Barnett; one stepson, Matthew (Pandora) Barnett of Dubach, LA; two stepdaughters, Madison (Matthew) Pollock of Crossett and Maci Barnett of Crossett; her mother, Cynthia “Cindy” Wheless of Crossett; two sisters, Candace Almond and Deana (Drew) Wright, both of Crossett; her bonus sister and best friend, Jessica Gunter; one granddaughter and two grandsons; two nieces, Kara (Greg) Kelley of Warren, AR and Kaitlyn Wright of Russellville, AR; three nephews, Greg Carter of Hamburg and Cody (Grace) Carter of Bartlesville, OK and Sam Wright of Crossett, AR.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Berlin Road, Hamburg, AR, with Pastor Danny Merriweather officiating, followed by interment at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Brent Barnett, Cary Wyatt, Joshua Barnett, Sam Wright, Drew Wright, Jeremy Barnett, and Hunter Barnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Stahley, Noah Barnett, Matthew Pollock, Jon Liles, and John Jackson.
