Darrell Glynn Loveless, 63, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021. He was born in Gary, Indiana, on December 18, 1958, to his parents, Glynn and Reecie Dumas Loveless and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett.
In 1977, Darrell graduated from Crossett High School. He played football along with running track where he set school track records and assisted his teammates in winning back-to-back state track championships.
In 1982, he graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and economics. After twelve years managing Wal-Mart stores, he joined with First National Bank of Crossett, and began Link Investment Company.
Darrell was a people person, he loved helping others manage their financial futures through investing. He also stayed active in the community as a Crossett Rotarian, a Chamber of Commerce member, and recently was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to the Arkansas Spinal Cord Commission.
Darrell was a clock enthusiast who enjoyed listening to the blues and telling stories. He enjoyed making others laugh but never hesitated to tell others about Jesus.
He was compelled to become a Gideon and spread the gospel wherever he could go. His suffering and misfortunes in life would not define him. They would only make his testimony stronger. He never complained, and when asked how he was, he always replied, “better than I deserve”.
He is preceded in death by his father, Glynn Loveless and father-in-law, Charles W. Cummins.
He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of forty-two years, Cheryl Cummins Loveless; one son, D. Patrick Loveless (Sarah) of DeQueen, AR; one grandson, Brayden Loveless of Crossett; and mother, Reecie Loveless also of Crossett; along with one sister, Tonya Beech (Marlon) of Chatom, AL; his mother-in-law, Shirley Cummins; and brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Joyce Cummins all of Crossett; and seven nieces, and one nephew.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29 at First Baptist Church of Crossett with Pastor Jamie Staley officiating followed by a private interment at Pinewood Memorial Park under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
