David Earl Harbour

David Earl Harbour, 80, of Crossett, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at his home.  He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on July 9, 1940, to his parents, Dale and Ellen Blakney Harbour.  He was a 1958 graduate of Parkers Chapel High School and honorably served in the United States Army Security Agency in Germany during the Vietnam era. 

In 1959, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Mary Bates, started a family, and soon began a forty-one-year career with Georgia Pacific, where he eventually retired as a multicraft mechanic and construction supervisor.

He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Crossett, an active Gideon for over 35 years, and served four terms on the Crossett City Council.

David was a Christian man who loved his family and possessed a strong passion for the Gideons’ mission, which he enjoyed sharing with pastors and whomever God placed in his path.  He was a proud servant of his town, country, church, and, most importantly, his God.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James Calvin Harbour; two brothers, O. A. and Dale Harbour; and two sisters, Della Peeples and Fannie Davis.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary Harbour of Crossett; one son, Tim Harbour, and wife, Melinda, of Lamesa, TX; one daughter, Debra Harbour also of Crossett; one sister, Ann McWhorter of Frisco, TX; eight grandchildren, Jessica Harbour Woods, Diana Harbour, Jamie Harbour, Kira Harbour, Alex Harbour, Kristina Hamm, Harley Hamm, and Amelia Harbour; and five great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, at Pinewood Memorial Park with Pastor Jamie Staley officiating.  Honorary Pallbearers are the Gideons from the Crossett-Hamburg Camp.

Visitation will be from 1:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local Gideons Camp.
