David “Leon” Perritt, 80, of Crossett, formerly of Gillett, passed away Monday, December 16, 2019, at the Stonegate Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. Leon was born on September 24, 1939, in Nady, Arkansas, to his parents, Bazzel Boyd and Ethel Adeline Williams Perritt.
He was a 1958 graduate of Gillett High School and married the love of his life, Alice Marie Sullivan, in October 1959.
Leon was a retired carpenter and handyman, and enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He was a former Gideon and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Gillett, where he once served as Chairman of Deacons.
He will be remembered as a man who well exemplified a devout Christian life and who never failed to help others in need.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Alice Marie Perritt, and his five sisters and six brothers.
He is survived by one son, Jody Perritt and wife, Brenda, of Crossett; and three additional family members whom he took into his home and raised, Marvin, Justin and Shana Sullivan; one brother, Bazzel Boyd Perritt, Jr. and wife, Gracie, of Eros, LA.; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Ginger Sullivan, both of Gillett; two grandchildren, Jessica Maxwell and husband, Brad of Conway, and Hanna Perritt of Crossett; three great-grandchildren, Easton and Eli Maxwell and Hunter Pierce; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 17, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Gillett, 704 W Main St, Gillett, AR with Bro. Fred Gay and Bro. Eddie Best officiating, followed by interment in the Gillett Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home of Crossett.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gillett and the Gideons International.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
