Davis Harper Obituary

Davis Locke Harper, 72, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1952, to his parents Christine Locke and R.D. "Zip" Harper.  He was a 1971 graduate of Crossett High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University.

Davis was a proud Vietnam veteran who served his country honorably as a medic with the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated 18 years to the Georgia Pacific paper mill, where he rose to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Pulping and Bleaching. He later spent 14 years with Albany International, excelling as a Sales and Service Engineer.

Along with being a licensed aircraft pilot, Davis was a member of numerous organizations including:

*  32nd Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Crossett Masonic Lodge #576

*  Shriner and member of the Sahara Shrine Temple

*  Past president of the Ashley County Shrine Club

*  Lifelong member of the Crossett Riding Club

*  Former member of the S&R Hunting Club

*  Member of the NRA

*  Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association

*  AOPA (Aircraft Owner’s and Pilot’s Association)

*  Ducks Unlimited and co-founder of Pin Oak Chapter of Ducks Unlimited

Davis was admired for his unwavering dedication, always giving 100% to everything he did. This work ethic defined both his professional and personal life and became a lasting legacy for his cherished daughters. Known for his meticulous nature, Davis took pride in keeping his home and vehicles immaculate and thoughtfully planned every detail of his own funeral to ease the burden on his loved ones.

He found joy in hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, working with horses, and spending time with his beloved basset hounds, Precious and Angel.

A generous and caring man, Davis expressed his love through thoughtful gestures like gifts, flowers, and handwritten cards and he cherished his family above all else.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his beloved daughters, Lauren Ashlie Harper and Candace Lane Jerry (Brian) both of Crossett; along with two grandchildren, Austin Measel and Briana Jerry; and his former wife Patti Lane Roan.
