DeLois Alexander O'Steen-West, 89, of Crowley, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021, at her home. She was born in Portland, Arkansas, on October 6, 1932, and lived most of her life in Ashley County where she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett.
For many years, DeLois and her first husband, Dorsey proudly served the Crossett community as agents at the State Farm Agency they owned and operated on Pine Street. DeLois was known as an exceptional and well-respected businesswoman who loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and devoted her life to serving him. Teaching Sunday School was one of the many ways she served which left a lasting imprint on her heart. She loved her church family and was incredibly grateful for her many friends.
A few years following Dorsey’s death, she agreed to marry Mr. Herman Glen West under one condition, that he would agree to attend church as she did. Without skipping a beat, they married and moved to Crowley, Texas, and soon joined the First Baptist Church of Crowley where they have been serving together faithfully for the last sixteen years. In Crowley, she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society often attending ladies’ luncheons and other events.
DeLois was the epitome of a true southern lady. She was a gracious and loyal friend who enjoyed entertaining, decorating, nurturing her flowers, and shopping. She was class from her hair to her shoes and loved deeply from the heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Felix and Ila Bawcom Alexander, her first husband, Dorsey Osteen, one brother, Lewell Alexander, and special sister in-law, Margaret Alexander.
She leaves behind, her husband of sixteen years, Herman West of Crowley, TX; one stepson, Glen West (Jane) of Benbrook, TX; two stepdaughters, Lisa Harris of Crowley, TX, and Kay Brawner (Bob) also of, TX; three nephews, , Bruce Alexander (Marcia) of Hamburg, AR, Dennis Alexander of Crossett, and Clay Osteen (Becky) of Bradenton, FL ; two nieces, Lynda Osteen Lewis (Ray) of Englewood, FL, and Judy Samuels-Jones (Jeff) of Hope, AR; along with great nieces and nephews, Holli Alexander Smith, who was extremely special to DeLois, and Angie, Brice, and Zachary Alexander, and a host of other relatives and friends.
